This Is What People In The 1800s Thought The Future Would Look Like

One thing that people like to do is try to predict the future, no matter how wild or uneducated their guesses are. This is a tradition as old as the human race, and is continuing today despite achievements in science and philosophy.
Even back in the 1800s, people were obsessed with trying to guess what the future would be like. Unsurprisingly, they had some wild ideas that ended up being way off. These postcards originate from the “En L’An 2000″ series of postcards created in the late 1800s, and beyond making us laugh: they give us a look at what people thought the world would become.

1.) …okay, given that the Roomba is a floor-cleaning robot, I guess this wasn’t too far off.

2.) These actually exist, so congratulions people from the past.

3.) Flying squirrel cops? That definitely didn’t occur.

4.) Who ever would have thought that a mobile home would be considered a luxury?

5.) Helicopters do exist, but they definitely don’t look like this.

6.) Couldn’t be more wrong on this one, although I guess the scuba equipment isn’t too off.

7.) Nope, that’s not how we get our suits made.

8) This is kind of right, but not quite how it looks.

9.) This has to be a form of child abuse, right?

10.) Well, we do have breeding farms, but they aren’t as happy and cheerful as this would make it seem.

11.) Hmmm, I guess we do have robot bands at some places.

There’s no sense in guessing what the future will look like (you’ll probably be wrong, anyway). So, just sit back and enjoy the ride!
